MNS activists defy HC order, go on rampage

MUMBAI: Despite the Bombay High Court���s order to restrain anyone from disrupting peace and creating law and order problem in the city, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists went on a rampage on Thursday evening, attacking nine shops in Kharghar on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai, according to local media reports.
The affected shopkeepers said that they had every intention of using the Marathi sign boards but did not have the manpower to put it up.They would have eventually put up the signs, they said. But before they could act, MNS activists pounced on them when they did not see the Marathi sign board on the shops.
MNS had warned the shopkeepers in Maharashtra to adhere to August 28 deadline to put up Marathi sign boards.
In a press conference on Thursday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray said his party would give time to the shopkeepers to start putting up the signs.
